The bank was built in 1899, originally as the Bank of Australasia and finished as the ANZ bank in 1996. The striking property eventually became Bank on Main Bed & Breakfast, which continued to retain the old world charm of the bank chambers and the original walk-in vault. After changing hands, the property preserved its historical allure, but with a gourmet twist. Amberesque was born.
Guests staying at Amberesque will enjoy their VIP breakfast in the 14 ft ceiling bank chambers. Guests can also curl up by the log fire during cooler months and indulge in a glass of fortified wine from the Amberesque Muscat barrel.
As you make your way up the impressive staircase you will find two spacious guest rooms, both fitted with plush king sized beds, swag and tail curtains and a large ensuite bathroom complete with spa.
Each room has been tastefully decorated with period style furnishings, yet has all the modern comforts such as split system air conditioning, complimentary wifi, television, DVD player, sound system, ironing facilities, and all the amenities to leave you feeling refreshed and pampered.
For an extra special Rutherglen experience be sure to check out our seasonal packages in partnership with local wineries and restaurants – available for viewing under the Accommodation tab.
